Third Street Music School
Annual Auditions
The Annual Auditions are a longstanding tradition at Third Street that affords an opportunity for students to audition in a supportive environment for a panel of judges including the Director of Programs and one or more external adjudicators.
Who Can Participate?
Students ages 5 through 18 who are registered in individual lessons, dance classes, music production classes, or Partners at Third Street classes at Third Street, and who meet the requirements, may participate in the auditions.
Readiness is determined by the individual or class instructor and by the Department Chair.
What are Students Auditioning For?
- The Annual Auditions experience offers students an opportunity to showcase their achievements and the potential of being selected for Third Street performances, including the annual Stowe C. Phelps Concert (May 5, 2026).
- All students receive a certificate and written comments to acknowledge their achievements.
- Comments from external adjudicators
What Happens at the Auditions?
Students are assigned a time slot based on instrument, age, and level. Students enter the room without teachers or parents and play their piece. Following the audition, students are dismissed to their parents/caregivers.
